Walkertown Volunteer Fire Department is located in the Northeast
part of Forsyth County, North Carolina. We provide fire, rescue,
EMS assist, and Hazardous Materials assistance to the citizens of
the Town of Walkertown and the Northeast Fire District. The
department is a Volunteer/Combination Department with 47 volunteer
members and a paid part time day shift staff.
Our department operates out of
one central station located at 5225 Main Street in the Town of
Walkertown. Our department runs seven pieces of apparatus, and has
recently added a Fire and Emergency Preparedness Public Education
Safety trailer to its fleet. We respond to approximately 800
incidents each year, and operate on a budget of about $355,000 per
year.
The department is governed by a
nine member Board of Directors and is operated by Board/Fire Chief
management structure. The Department is an ISO Class 5/9 Insurance
Rated District, and serves a land area just under 10 square miles.
In 2003 the department celebrated a 50th anniversary.
