Hello Walkertown community.

I am excited to introduce myself to you all. I am Eddie Bottoms, your newly appointed full time Fire Chief for the Walkertown Fire Department. I am humbled to be given the helm of a department with such a rich history of service and tradition. Many men have worn the badge of Chief before me and laid a foundation that is second to none in our region and the State. It is my honor to serve you and to lead these men and women of our department into the future. I am local to the area and began my fire service career as a volunteer firefighter right next door at the
Mineral Springs Fire Department in 1986. I was hired into a professional career for the City of Winston-
Salem Fire Department in 1987. I served my community as a firefighter, teacher, mentor, and leader
ever since. I had the honor of starting the Fire Academy program at the Walkertown High School and
introducing young people to the fire service as a career and an opportunity to serve. Being here at the
fire department seems to be a full circle to bring me back to a place I that I have had an opportunity to
foster relationships with so many.

As your Chief, it is my goal to lead the organization in such a way that we serve you, not only in an
emergency, but everyday to make living here in our community better. Please feel free to reach out to
us when you have a need. The men and women here are professional and are honored as well to serve.
